Anti-Racism and Young People

Addressing racism among young people is crucial for fostering a more inclusive society. Education, open dialogue, and promoting empathy and understanding are essential in combating prejudice and discrimination. It's important to create soft spaces where young people can discuss and challenge their own biases, while also promoting diversity and celebrating cultural nuances.

We recently conducted a youth survey, gathering evidence of the lived experience of young people (14 - 21 years) in terms of racism. The resulting report, found below, provides an insightful exploration of the lived experiences of young people from diverse ethnic backgrounds. At OK To Be, we believe that understanding the perspectives of youth is vital to building a society where everyone can thrive, free from prejudice and inequality.

By amplifying young peoples' voices, we aim to shed light on the challenges they face and the opportunities for fostering equity and understanding across communities.

Through this survey, we have uncovered stories that are both inspiring and thought-provoking. Whether it’s navigating cultural expectations, confronting bias, or celebrating the richness of diversity, these narratives offer a vivid snapshot of the realities young people encounter today.

We hope this report serves as a catalyst for meaningful dialogue, informed policy-making, and impactful action to create a more inclusive and equitable future. Together, we can move closer to a world where every voice is valued.
